Terms of Service

Thank you for using BookLens. These terms govern use of the service operated by its operator, including paper-book or document material registration, AI analysis, viewing, Google Docs export, credit purchases, and related features. Users may use BookLens only after agreeing to these terms.

Service description

• BookLens uses AI to convert images or videos of books and documents uploaded by users into page-level text, structure, Markdown, and related outputs for viewing and Google Docs export.
• BookLens is not a complete substitute for the paper book or original material. Page numbers, text, headings, tables of contents, summaries, and structured outputs may contain errors or omissions.
• Google Docs export is an optional third-party integration and depends on Google OAuth permission, Google service availability, and the user’s Google account settings.
• We may change, suspend, or terminate features, specifications, pricing, or delivery methods when necessary.

Accounts and authentication

• BookLens primary authentication uses email OTP. Users must manage their email address, OTP, JWT, devices, notification permissions, and Google Docs integration appropriately.
• Minors must obtain consent from a parent or legal guardian before using the service.
• Accounts, authentication credentials, purchase history, and credits may not be transferred, lent, or shared with third parties.

User materials and rights

Users are responsible for using BookLens only with images, videos, text, book information, inquiry messages, and other data that they may lawfully use.

• Users must not publish, distribute, sell, share, or re-provide materials or analysis results beyond private use or other uses permitted by applicable law.
• Users warrant that their materials do not infringe copyrights, publication rights, trademarks, publicity rights, privacy, trade secrets, contractual restrictions, or any other third-party rights.
• Users grant us a non-exclusive right to use user materials only as needed to provide, analyze, store, display, export to Google Docs, support, investigate incidents, and protect the service. This grant does not include AI model training use.
• Users must not upload library materials, rented books, borrowed books, business documents, third-party confidential information, or licensed educational or published materials unless they have permission from the rights holder or administrator.

AI output handling

• Analysis results, page structures, Markdown, summaries, and extracted outputs are generated or assisted by AI and are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose.
• Before relying on outputs for important decisions, quotations, study, business use, legal, medical, accounting, or other professional purposes, users must verify them against the original material, source images, source videos, or reliable references.
• Users are responsible for resolving disputes, rights claims, or misinformation issues arising from their use of AI outputs at their own cost.

Credits, in-app purchases, and refunds

• Analysis features require analysis credits set by us. Credits are purchased through Apple App Store / StoreKit on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android.
• Prices, granted credit amounts, taxes, and payment terms are shown by each store and the service. Credit card numbers are handled by the stores or payment providers and are not stored by us.
• Purchased credits are valid for 180 days from issuance. Credits expire after that period.
• Credit estimates shown when adding materials are estimates. Credits are recalculated and reserved when the user starts analysis. Credits are consumed on successful analysis and returned when analysis fails.
• Refunds, cancellations, and purchase restoration for in-app purchases are handled under Apple App Store, Google Play, applicable law, and each store’s review and processing rules. If a refund or cancellation is confirmed, we may reduce or adjust the credit ledger.
• Except where required by law or store policy, credits cannot be cashed out, transferred to another account, refunded in cash, or exchanged.

Google Docs integration

• Google Docs export is optional. Users who use it authorize the drive.file scope through Google OAuth.
• For Google Docs export, we handle Google access tokens, refresh tokens, Google account email, and created document identifiers only as needed.
• Google Docs export may be unavailable due to Google service changes, expired authorization, revoked permissions, storage limits, outages, or policy changes.

Prohibited acts

• Publishing, distributing, selling, sharing, or re-providing materials or analysis results beyond private use or other uses permitted by applicable law.
• Uploading or analyzing illegal, harmful, infringing, privacy-violating, confidential, or otherwise inappropriate materials.
• Excessive requests, automation, scraping, reverse engineering, unauthorized access, vulnerability probing, or interference with APIs or networks.
• Misusing, forging, reselling, or sharing purchase tokens, receipts, credits, accounts, feature flags, or notification tokens.
• Violating the terms of Google, Apple, Google Play, Cloudflare, PostHog, Microsoft Clarity, Sentry, Slack, or other external services.
• Providing benefits to antisocial forces, impersonation, harassment, spam, or other conduct we deem inappropriate.

Account deletion and data deletion

• Users may request account deletion from the app or by inquiry. After a deletion request, we disable account use and delete related data and external resources through deletion queues and recovery jobs.
• Purchase ledgers, refund or adjustment records, inquiry history, security logs, and records needed for legal or platform compliance may be retained for the period necessary.
• After deletion, the same email address, Google Docs integration, purchase history, expired credits, or analysis results may not be restorable.

Suspension and removal

• If a user violates these terms or if we suspect abuse, rights infringement, security risk, payment fraud, or violation of law or platform rules, we may suspend use, stop analysis, delete materials, stop Google Docs integration, adjust credits, or take other necessary measures without prior notice.
• We may preserve, disclose, delete, or suspend use of information when necessary to respond to valid requests from laws, courts, administrative agencies, platforms, or rights holders.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

• We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that analysis outputs will be accurate, that Google Docs export will always succeed, or that credit displays will always match user expectations.
• Except in cases of our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or where applicable law does not permit limitation, our liability is limited to the amount the user paid for the service during the previous six months.
• If part of these terms is invalid under consumer protection or other applicable law, the remaining parts will remain effective to the maximum extent possible.

Damages and indemnification

If a user violates these terms or if user materials or analysis results cause third-party claims, disputes, administrative responses, legal fees, investigation costs, or other damages, the user must resolve the matter at their own cost and indemnify us for damages we incur.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms under applicable law. When changing the terms, we will announce the effective date and content of the revised terms in the service, on the website, or by another appropriate method.

Governing law, jurisdiction, and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction for the first instance over disputes related to the service. For questions about these terms, billing, rights, or privacy, contact support in the app or email support@flowzenn.com.
